Amboseli National Park (Home of African Elephants)
One of Kenya's most visited parks is the Amboseli National Parks. Amboseli, which means "salty dust" in Maasai, is one of the best sites in Africa to get up close with big herds of elephants. Here, visitor's can explore five distinct ecosystems, including the savannah, woods, wetlands with sulphur springs, and the dried-up bottom of Lake Amboseli. They can also get a taste of real Maasai culture by going to the Maasai community that is near the park. Major activities in this park include , game drive, camping, bird watching and photography.This park can be access through Meshanani Gate when going through Nairobi Arusha road which is about 240 km through Nairobi Arusha Road. The park can be accessed via Kimana (Olkelunyiet) Gate when going through Nairobi Mombasa Road through Emali.The park can also be access by air using light aircrafts at Empusel gate and Other airstrips at Kilimanjaro Buffalo Lodge and Namanga town.Tourists will experience Large Herds of Elephants, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Big Five, Observation Hill which allows an overall view of the whole park especially the swamps and elephants, Swamp below observation hill hosts many elephants, buffaloes, hippos and a variety of water fowls like pelican, Egyptian goose, Contemporary Maasai culture and indigenous lifestyle among others
